Happy Anniversary to Me!

*Technically, the anniversary is tomorrow - but I have two other things to post tomorrow and I didn't want to overwhelm you all.

DRUMROLL....

10 years ago, on November 15th, was when I made this LJ account. Which means it's been 10 years since I officially became a member of the Supernatural fandom - having first caught up with the first 3 seasons in the summer of 2008, and then started watching live when S4 started airing that fall.

In November of 2008, I wrote a weechester ficlet, and rather than everything else fandom-related that I had written in my life, I thought "hey, maybe I should share this one.... maybe I'll do it, if no one has taken the name hells_half_acre on LJ yet." And no one had, and so I did.

That ficlet was soon followed by my little ridiculous crossover idea that turned into the 10 year (and probably counting) epic that is the Demented'verse - and the Demented'verse led to me timelining the show... which meant that I had to rewatch it, and while I was doing that, I might as well keep track of the clothes...and yeah... that's how we ended up here today.

But in addition to that, I met a lot of great friends here over the years... I actually have my current job because of a friend that I met through this LJ account. Also, putting LJ aside, about 80% of my friends in Vancouver were made through six degrees of separation to just one person I met at VanCon in 2010 - including the person who hired me at my previous job.

I wish I had planned a super awesome 10th anniversary present to you all and myself, but I'm not that great at thinking about stuff like that...

Instead, in the spirit of 2008, I'm going to post an Ed/Corbett slash fic tomorrow, and then do a Quick Reaction as usual. :)

Thank you all for continuing to read my ridiculous posts and discuss the show with me, even though LJ isn't the fandom hub it once was. And thank you to those of you who don't even watch the show anymore, but still drop by to say hello every now and then.

I love every single one of you!

Happy anniversary!!! And thank you for all that you've done for fandom; whether it's fics, reactions, timelines and clothes, it all makes this place a great place to be :)

Happy LJ-versary! :D
*throws confetti*

Isn't it funny how one wee thing can blossom into something so huge and amazing?

Thanks!

And yes, it's amazing - I never could have imagined how much it would effect my day-to-day life. Not to mention the people it would introduce me to.

Looking back at the seemingly insignificant moments in the past that have completely altered the path of one's life is always amazing to do--And I am very glad that our paths crossed because of this little TV show!

And then there's the addictive nature of obsession......which meant that I had to rewatch it, and while I was doing that, I might as well keep track of the clothes...and yeah... that's how we ended up here today. Right there with you...

Yeah, the course of ones life is pretty amazing when you think of the tiniest, seemingly insignificant, things changed everything. It really gives a lot of clout to the butterfly-effect! Hahaha

Happy anniversary! Your presence on the internet has brought joy to so many of us. (And fueled our obsessive tendencies...in the best way!)

On an unconnected note...I just started watching Daredevil season 3, and wondered if you’ve watched it. I liked reading your thoughts on the first two seasons.

Thank you! :)

I haven't watched it yet. It's on my list... but, I'm kind of worried that I'm going to hate it, so I keep putting it off. I was disappointed in S2 overall, so, yeah...

The other problem is that recently my Netflix account has started crashing after 10 seconds of play. So... unless that resolves itself, I'll have to go through the effort of getting it illegally, which is also something that would delay me and is annoying.

BUT... it's mostly that I'm worried it's going to do everything I hate about Daredevil and nothing I like. I'll get over it eventually though and give it a watch, it probably just won't me until December at the earliest. (I'm also trying to do Nanowrimo this month, so my time has become very limited.)

I'm impressed that you can accomplish ANY of your write ups, watches, and rewatches in the middle of NaNoWriMo - props to you!

I'm remembering now that you did a rewrite of season 1 without Fisk, didn't you. Is that what you disliked about Daredevil previously? I'm still in the very beginning of season 3 (and of course I won't spoil anything for you), but so far I've found it to be largely character-driven - a departure from the antics of the Hand (and Elektra), which I think both of us disliked about season 2. Matt's internal struggle seems interesting and earned, at least so far. I'll be interested to hear your thoughts whenever you eventually get around to it, even if you end up disliking it. :)

Yeah, I edited S1 so that it ONLY followed the hero storylines. That's a personal taste thing - I don't like knowing what the villain is doing if the hero doesn't know what the villain is doing. I ONLY want to see the story from the hero's POV.

But, if S3 is so far character-driven and centred on Matt again, I might like it, even if I've got to put up with a little Fisk (I mean, I did really enjoy S1, and just edited him out afterwards as a pet project... S2, meanwhile, was beyond an edit save for me.)

It's why I like Harry Potter, a large portion of Supernatural, and my own writing. ;)

And yeah, speaking of trying to get stuff done during NaNoWriMo - next rewatch isn't going to be until the 25th at the earliest. :P

I'll for sure do a post about Daredevil S3 once I get around to watching it. (Hopefully my netflix is functioning by December.)
