June Ficlet - I am drunk tonight

So, today the dice choose another daily-prompt. And the daily-prompt today was "In a valley"

And I thought, "I have no idea what to write".. because in Supernatural, the name Dean means "valley" and in Merlin there's the valley of The Fallen Kings, and in Sherlock, it was in a valley that Henry or whatever his name was saw the Hound... and Bucky fell into a valley in Captain America...

And I thought "I will write this ficlet at the end of the day, so that I have ALL DAY to think of it", but the problem was that I was going out to a concert in the evening. "But that's okay," I thought. "Because it ends early and I will be home by like, 10 or something, and maybe the music will inspire me to write about valleys or whatever."

But then the ticket came with beer.. and then my friend bought more beer.. and I have had a lot of beer. I drank, um, their IPA, which is really really hoppy and I didn't like it much. So I drank a Pilsner, which was like sex in a canoe - fucking close to water. So I switched to their amber lager, and that was just right, so I had a couple of those... maybe more than a couple.

And I did have a burger somewhere in there, and I danced a bit.. but let's face it, folks, I am a lightweight. So I am very drunk right now. Even more so than on Tuesday nights. My friend vomited, but I held it together! I am a proud of me... because I wanted to vomit, but I didn't! Yay! Go me! Keep it all inside, kids.

So, should I write a ficlet tonight? Am I even capable of writing a ficlet tonight? Let's see....

Dean, the name, means the valley... and that's nothing special. Sam... Samuel, that means "name of God" or "God has heard". And Sam is like a god to Dean, really. So that's not surprising. Even when Dad was around, it was all about looking after Sam, taking care of Sammy, watch out for your little brother. And you found out, at age twenty-seven, that Sam prayed, and you thought that of all people, God probably listened to Sammy. Even though you didn't think there was a god. Even when you were told by an angel of the Lord that there was, you thought, he's probably listening to Sammy. But never to you, no, never to you. You weren't meant for God.

In the Valley there's a sword in a stone, and they say only the rightful King of Camlot can pull it out. But that's not true. They don't actually say that. A servant boy says that and people believe that is what is said - but it was the servant boy who placed that blade there, and it's the servant boy who draws it out, even if he uses another's hand. Legends are what we say they are, in the end. So it's the servant boy, who is a wizard, who tells us lies... lies upon lies, which become truth. The rightful King pulls the sword from the stone and no one ever notices that it's the Queen who unites Albion and restores magic to the land - because there's a good story with a sword in a stone and a rightful King, and really, the truth is boring in the end.

There's a valley among the moors. Because those are the best valleys... and it's filled with trees and poisons. And it drives a man insane. And someone shoots a dog. And it's all fuckin' tragic... but kind of brilliant too, or so Sherlock says.

Captain America....

Bucky falls into a valley... actually a canyon. And that's the end of Bucky really... though maybe he died before that. Maybe he died in a hydra base in Italy, before Steve even rescued him from the fire. Maybe he died as soon as he left New York behind - New York and his skinny frail friend, Steve... to land in Europe and see firsthand the realities of war. Maybe he died the moment the letter arrived.. the letter that told him he had been drafted. The letter that he had dreaded all along. Maybe he died that first day he met a blond haired kid named Steve, who had asthma and nearly died every winter... died is a strong word, but maybe that's when the dying began.

End of Drunk Weird "Ficlets" which aren't really ficlets... I don't know what they are, but I have to write something once a day and today that is all I am capable of.

Cheers, my lovelies.

Your drunk ramblings are surprisingly deep. When I drink I mostly fall asleep on the couch.
