Title: The Case of the Unfortunate Brother
Author: hells_half_acre
Fandoms: Sherlock and Merlin (modern AU)
Rating: PG
Word Count: ,576
Pairings: None, but could be Arthur/Merlin if you wanted.
Warnings: Spoilers for S2 of Sherlock. No spoilers for Merlin.
A/N: he premise of this fic is based off more than one prompt that I've seen on both the Sherlock and Merlin kinkmemes that ask for Merlin to be Sherlock's younger brother, who appears to just be an ordinary charming guy until he reveals that he is just as much of a Holmes as Sherlock and Mycroft are.

Summary: John meets Sherlock's estranged younger brother at a coffee shop... twice.

Sherlock had caused someone to burst into tears without even speaking – it had been a new record.Collapse )

Now with an additional story: The Unfortunate Brother: Childhood (is the Kingdom Where Nobody Dies)

This was lovely! I love how Merlin's secret this time around is his genius rather than his magic. *giggles* And Sherlock panicking because Merlin tackle-hugged him!

Thanks! I do love how affectionate Merlin is, I couldn't resist contrasting it with Sherlock ;)

This was utterly fantastic. I love what you've done with Merlin in this AU - so much of his character is perfectly in line with the show, but he's also very much a believable Holmes. I can only imagine how the dragon or Gaius fit into this universe. Or what sort of accidents could have befallen Moriarty if he'd moved against Arthur. Or Mummy Holmes as Hunith?

I loved John's POV and his astonishment at meeting more of Sherlock's family.

Of course, I can only dream of reading more in this universe. Just know that if the muse ever returns, you'll have an eager reader in me!

Thank you so much for sharing :D

I really wouldn't mind writing more in this 'verse, to tell you the truth. I'm just not sure how I would go about it. Anything I write would have to be pre-ThisStory, because the truth is that I want to keep it as canon as possible for Sherlock, and since they haven't done The Empty House yet - I don't know what direction they are going to go with his return.

So, yeah..right now I'm debating whether I want to do a slightly different piece about Merlin growing up as a Holmes...but...yes, I have work out some details, like whether Hunith is Mummy and how Gaius and the dragon fit into it...

Thanks for reading and being so supportive! :)

Just read this and absolutely loved it. Especially how Merlin's magic translates to being a genius. I'd love to see how Arthur and Merlin meet in details and of course I gobble up anything with young!Holmes in it. Thanks for the one-shot...

acMerlin/Sherlock crossover
Awsome, brilliant, amazing <3 LOve how you made Merlin hide a secret and how he is, even though it now was intelligence instead of magic. This is a crossover when they are at their best!

Re: acMerlin/Sherlock crossover
Thank you!! It was a lot of fun to figure out how the aspects of the plot of Merlin could still be preserved in the altered setting. :)
