Ask Me Anything

I'm bored...and I still have to work....so, let's try a thing...

Ask me anything in comments, and I'll answer. I've even turned on anonymous commenting (though it's set so that I'll screen them).

I'm not so narcissistic that I actually believe you are interested in my life, but if you are, that's cool...or if you want me to discuss certain shows/characters/events/fics that's cool too.

Basically, I'm just trying this out to see if it's a good idea or a horrible idea for how to spend an afternoon...(it's probably a horrible idea)

Although I have no question. My mind is kinda blank at the moment, it is an interesting way to pass the afternoon. You could probably have a nice chat with friends, which, I think, is a great way to pass the time. Have a good one.

We'll see!

Have a good one too.

Have you seen the filming pics linked here - http://all-spn.livejournal.com/1778162.html#cutid1?

And if so, do you have any thoughts on the wardrobe spoiler? I quite like it!
Mar. 28th, 2012 09:16 pm (UTC)
I quite like it too! I'd like it even more if it wasn't a "utility coat" design (as in, there are too many pockets!) But I do like the fact that there is a return of that particular material ;)
Mar. 28th, 2012 10:37 pm (UTC)
I kind of like the utility coat design, actually. It reminds me a little of the one he wore in 2014, but both cooler and less militaristic because of the material.

Fair point! I think it comes down to personal taste - and I've always favoured less bulk, more smooth designs.
Mar. 28th, 2012 10:38 pm (UTC)
Did you like SP from the beginning or did you find it after season 1?
Mar. 28th, 2012 10:52 pm (UTC)
I found it in the summer of 2008. My sister recommended it, and we borrowed/downloaded the first three seasons so that I could watch it in order. It took me until 1x09 to really start caring for the characters and plot though...in the beginning, it was just something to do with my sister during her visit home.

So, technically, I both watched it from the beginning AND discovered it after S3.

Sounds like me!
Mar. 28th, 2012 10:38 pm (UTC)
So how many places have you lived all together (and name them)?
Mar. 28th, 2012 10:56 pm (UTC)
6 places.

1. Ottawa, Ontario (and surrounding area).
2. Peterborough, Ontario (university - BA)
3. Freiburg, Germany (year-abroad program)
4. St. John's, Newfoundland (university - MA)
5. Montreal, Quebec (only 4 months, as I failed to find employment before my savings ran out.)
6. Vancouver, British Columbia

I am going to be a horrible LJ acquaintance and ask: Any fics related to the Demented 'verse or the trifecta crossover in the works?

Alternatively, would you ever consider a trip to the United States? Maybe even driving/flying/taking the train to Wisconsin?
Mar. 28th, 2012 11:58 pm (UTC)
Haha, there's nothing horrible about those questions.

Demented'verse - I have an almost completed demented timestamp set in S7, but I can't think of a good ending for it...and I'm also not sure if I like the POV it's in. So, yeah, it needs some work. I'm sure I'll post it eventually though...it's been sitting on my headdrive since November 1st.

Trifecta - no plans as of yet. There's a Sherlock/Supernatural fic that someone wanted me to write once that I may do...or not...but that one has been stewing for over a year now, so I'm not sure I'll ever get to it.

Traveling to the US - In general, I try not to travel to the US, because it makes me very nervous...that being said, I would be far more likely to go to a Northern State than a Southern one (Although, I'd love to see the Grand Canyon...and possibly a desert...I have never seen a desert. Well, I've seen a Canadian desert, but that hardly counts).

I have never been to Wisconsin, but I hear the South-shore of the Superior is quite lovely, so who knows! Maybe if I move back to Ontario and decide to drive, I will take a southern route.

Ooh, a story to look forward to reading. Yay!

If you ever journey to Wisconsin, I would happy to host you.
Mar. 30th, 2012 12:18 am (UTC)
Let's see if I ever finish it!! (I probably will - franztatisch has been nipping at my heels for it. :P)

Thanks! My usual rule when travelling to places is to stay with friends - usually, it's the only reason that I can afford the trip.
Mar. 30th, 2012 02:10 am (UTC)
And if you ever come out west (eschewing both north and south) come to CA and I'll host you!
Mar. 30th, 2012 02:15 am (UTC)
Hmmm...I'm starting to feel like I should make a list, and travel the world!!

It'll be the Great Hell's Half Acre Supernatural Fandom World Tour!! No wait, Hell's Half Acre travels over Hell's Half Acre! Hahaha...okay, I'm a dork...but seriously...I'm all over the free accommodation folks, so be careful what you promise because I WILL take you at your word. :P

Another question, also SPN-related :) Do you know if there have been any references to Dean or other characters reading Kurt Vonnegut, other than the one in Monster at the End of This Book?
Mar. 29th, 2012 12:11 am (UTC)
Not off the top of my head, no... but sometimes the references in the show are so quick that even I miss them. That's certainly the only time it was remarked upon.
Mar. 29th, 2012 12:13 am (UTC)
I'm trying to decide if Lucifer doing cat's cradle in the last episode was a reference to the Vonnegut novel, and if so, what exactly it means. I feel like there are many exciting possibilities.

Does this have a time limit? :)

How do you feel about the evolution of Sam and Dean from season 1 to the current season of Supernatural?
Mar. 29th, 2012 07:08 am (UTC)
There is no time limit...but holy indepth question, batman!

Um...I like it?

It's one thing I love about Supernatural - the characters change over time, for better or for worse.

We get bright-eyed and cocky Dean slowly revealing the warped psyche underneath the bravado...and then becoming the hardened emotionally scarred hunter that he is today. He's lost everything and everyone and just because some people miraculously come back, that doesn't mean that the pain he felt at their original passing has no effect.

We also get Sam, who began as our reluctant hero - and evolved into the biggest damn hero of them all. I was just thinking of this the other day - but Sam was always a character that life happened to. He was denied choice his entire life, ordered around by his father, thrown into a war by the events manipulated by a demon, further manipulated by another demon...and finally, finally, Sam got to make a choice, and he chose to sacrifice himself. And it really was the perfect arc, from S1-S5...but I also like that they went passed S5, because with S7 we get to see the aftermath of war, and we see that most with Sam.

JK Rowling once spoke about why she chose to have Harry live at the end of her books...and I can't remember her exact words, but she basically said that true bravery was not just fighting a war, but dealing with the aftermath as well. I feel like that's what we're getting to see with S6 and 7.

I could also speak about the evolution of Sam and Dean's relationship...because that's been handled amazingly well..I'm probably reaching the character limit for this comment though. :P

Just FYI this is not really a AMA question...

I've been reading your blog for a few months now and I really enjoy it. I like a lot of your POVs on the Supernatural story arcs and characters. I've wanted to comment before but I dont have a LJ account so...
That being said, I thought the episode with EmmanuelCas and Sam losing it was awesome! I think it was one of the best in recent times. I have to say the previous few episodes havent been up to scratch (for me personally). I mean I really enjoy watching the boys, but I kinda felt the story was coming to a bit of a standstill, so I was REALLY glad about the last episode.

Also, I am amazed by your catalogue of the boys outfits. So detailed!
(Which btw is how I first came across your blog! :D)

I know this isnt a question, but I hope you see this/post this all the same!

Re: Hi!

I'm glad you are enjoying my blog! :)

I also thought that episode was awesome - and I have a feeling it will only get more awesome when I get around to doing my rewatch. It definitely livened up the storyline a bit...since I agree that it HAS been dragging the longer they go without real progress in the Leviathan arc.

I'm also glad that you enjoy the clothing catalogue! It's a bit of work that one - but I enjoy it immensely. :)

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a note!
