I am in another movie...

Well, I can now cross "drag my boobs across Dustin Milligan's back" off my bucket list.

Not that it was there in the first place, but maybe it should have been...

As I mentioned before, I was an extra in an indie film on Sunday, starring Dustin Milligan (aka gay-intern Corbett) and some other people that I vaguely recognized. The scenes we shot were club/bar scenes - so it was a lot of dancing, and a lot of mined dancing (which didn't feel as ridiculous as it probably looked)...and at one point the actors (who were having a conversation in the middle of a dance-floor) said they wanted the background performers to bump into them, so yeah...I did.

It was fun. You gotta love Vancouver - it offers such unique opportunities.

Anyway, Dustin seemed to be a very nice guy.

Also, since it was a club/bar where people were doing drugs and getting wasted, every time I ungracefully tripped in my heels, I would just pretend that I was drunk and it was acting! not clumsiness!

They are shooting another scene they need extras for on Wednesday, but I actually have to work for a living, so I'm not able to go.

Wonderful! I'm glad you are able to enjoy the opportunities that come your way! Have fun, sorry about missing it because of work, but hey life happens right.

Have a great day!

Heheh, so do I ;)

And yeah, if extra work paid enough and was reliable, I'd totally do it as a day job.

Wow that first line made me picture something much more naked...sorry!

Haha, I know - I was being intentionally scandalous and misleading ;)

Yea, Dustin's a ridiculously nice guy. He's incredibly approachable. When he's waiting for his call, he sits by my desk and we idle chat it up while I frantically organize invoices and he plays with his phone.

Indeed. That's the sense I got to, even though I only spoke to him a few times yesterday.

You wild woman, you! :)

Haha, yes. ;)

It's so exciting that you get to do extra work. That's something I've always thought would be fun, but unless I move to Vancouver or LA or NY or somewhere big, it's totally not gonna happen, at least for years, in which case it'd be more of a getting stationed in a big city, which doesn't happen much either...so...yeah. It resembles my pet dilemma.

It IS kinda fun. I enjoy it anyway. For the most part it's just a lot of sitting around being bored - but it's fun to see behind the scenes on a movie. :)

You could also move to Toronto! They have a lot of filming there too.

This sounds so interesting - thank you for sharing your experiences!

Can I ask - do extras agencies generally take on people who are available weekends only? It sounds like a fun thing to do.

I don't know. This was a volunteer unpaid thing. I think most TVs don't film on the weekends, but movies might. You might have better luck asking an actual extra agency. I belong to one, and I just update my calendar with my availability - so, you could always sign up, and then just be prepared for the fact that you might not actually get called-up to do anything (or it'll be extremely rare.)

Congratulations! It's great that you get opportunities like that - and that it was fun on top of it.

Thanks! Yeah, I don't do it very often, but it can be fun. :)
