Trust the Trenchcoat

Fandom Year in Review 2010

 taken from akadougal

Your main fandom of the year?
Supernatural. As always...actually, I fear the day I might want to get into another show heavily, because I kind of set up my tags on this journal is such a way where I can't really talk/write about other shows.

Your favorite film watched this year?
(my apologies to Harry Potter), but I think I'm going to say: Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World. It was so very enjoyable, and I love Kiran Culkin... and also, I can't remember any films I saw from the first half of the year.

Your favorite book read this year?
I don't think I've read a book this year! At least, not a whole one. I really should stop reading 5 books at once, nothing ever gets finished that way. God, I feel like a horrible human being. I'm currently working on Come Thou, Tortoise. I'm going to move it up to the top of the queue right now and force myself to read only that one book until it is finished, because this is ridiculous. I've run out of bookmarks and started using transit passes.

Your favorite album or song to listen to this year?
Well, just a couple of weeks ago I went to a Jason Collett concert and bought his acoustic remix album, and I'm really liking it. Also, as usual, I liked everything that Hawksley Workman put out. Song? Hmm...I really like "Girl in the War" by Josh Ritter. I'm also eagerly awaiting Hey Rosetta's new release in February 2011 (as you can tell by my header, I really like the lead signer is totally my imaginary Newfoundlander boyfriend.) Your favorite TV show of the year?
Supernatural - since it's practically the only show I watch, besides a handful of sitcoms. That being said, I was also very taken with the BBC's new Sherlock series.

Your favorite community of the year?
Hmmm...I don't know. I guess this was the year I started watching ontd_spnparty , and I really love all the gifs and macros every Sunday.

Your best new fandom discovery of the year?
Sherlock. I love it so much that I want the DVDs and that's really saying something with me.

Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year?
I try to stay away from the parts of the fandom that disappoint me. I guess I'd have to say that I'm disappointed with a lot of the negativity I see about Season 6. Sometimes I feel like people aren't liking it just because they already decided before it started that they weren't going to like it....if you know what I mean. Though, it's the first season where we honestly don't know what the end goal is, so I guess that's probably throwing some people off.

OH GOD WAIT! I just thought of one: THE LAST AIRBENDER! Seriously, I felt really bad for M. Night Shamalamadoo and his poor career, but at the same time DUDE! HOW CAN YOU TAKE A WICKED AWESOME MULTI-CULTURAL WOMEN-POSITIVE EPIC AWESOME THING and turn it into THAT PIECE OF RUBBISH?! Not even Slumdog-Millionaire-boy could pull that thing out of the gutter...oh dude...oh dude...

Seriously, anyone who hasn't checked out the original animated series of Avatar: The Last Airbender, really should. It is made of awesome...and is nothing like that shit-tastic live-action film.

Your TV boyfriend of the year?
Um...I don't that. Maybe I'll go with Sam Winchester, just because DAMN.

Your TV girlfriend of the year?
Um...again...not really sure....I can't even really come up with anyone at all... I from HIMYM, just because she has the body-type that I like on women. I obviously don't watch TV for the women  :P

Your biggest squee moment of the year?
Talking to Jared Padalecki and discovering that he is a non-photogenic Adonis, who further chooses to torture me by being kind, sweet, funny, and intelligent....making me rethink my "don't date Americans" rule (seriously, are there more of him somewhere? I'd like to put my name on a waiting list.)

The most missed of your old fandoms?
My old fandoms had their time. I've had plenty of time to get over the ending of Due interest in the Japanese anime I used to follow sort of petered out when the story dragged too much (there's such a thing as getting too popular, I think). So, yeah, I guess I miss Avatar: The Last Airbender - but that's it. (Zuko would totally be my TV boyfriend if A:TLA had aired on TV this year).

(Yes, I realize he is only 17 years-old...but DUDE, he is a BAMF and also adorably awkward and melodramatically angsty...what is not to love?....also, yes, I realize he is a cartoon...shut up)

The fandom you haven't tried yet, but want to?

Don't really have one, nor do I really have time to get into anything anyway.

Your biggest fan anticipations for the New Year?
Sammy Winchester! Also, the final Harry Potter film. Oh oh! Also - AVATAR: THE LEGEND OF KORRA.
